At MAMA HOPE, we work alongside proximate leaders—those closest to community challenges, who are often overlooked despite holding the solutions. These leaders run locally-led organizations across East Africa that create meaningful, sustainable change with limited access to funding and global networks. We invest in their work through system strengthening, social enterprise development, and ethical advocacy that shifts power dynamics and uplifts their voices.

Since 2008, inspired by our founder’s experience, we’ve been building pathways that center community-led solutions. We support and equip locally-led organizations, through the Localization Development Accelerator (LDA) program, Diversity & Equity Accelerator Lab (DEAL), Boot camp Trainings, and in our alumni network in The Collective—with training, networks, advocacy, and community to thrive on their own terms. Together, we’re changing the narrative from charity to collaboration.
